Walking Pneumonia
In recent weeks, doctors have sudden increase in reported cases of walking pneumonia.
- A mild form of pneumonia that allows individuals to continue daily activities without realizing they have pneumonia.
- Cause – Often caused by the bacterium Mycoplasma pneumoniae, but can also be due to viruses or fungi.
- Transmission – Highly contagious, spreading through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking.
- Treatment – Typically involves antibiotics (if bacterial)
- Prevention – Good hygiene practices, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and maintaining a healthy immune system
SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) Initiative
During International Conference on Communication and Dissemination of Traditional Knowledge, significance of SVASTIK initiative was highlighted.
- Coordinated by – CSIR-NIScPR (National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research).
- Objective – To preserve traditional practices and promote scientific validation of traditions
- Significance – Disseminates scientifically validated traditional knowledge through social media in 17 languages.

- A plastic (Polystyrene) eating insect
- Hosts bacteria in their guts that help break down the material.
- Found in poultry rearing houses which are warm and can offer a constant food supply.
