2nd edition of the Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) was inaugurated by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan
- An initiative by the Department of Military Affairs and the USI (United Service Institution) of India.
- Aim – To conserve and promote India’s military heritage through education and tourism.
- Features – Focus on documenting India’s rich military history and promote educational and tourism programs to raise awareness among youth and the general public.
- Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) – To bridge the gap in public awareness of India’s military heritage, history, and strategic priorities.
Proba 3 Mission
ISRO will launch European Space Agency’s (ESA) Proba-3 mission
- Aim – To observe the Sun’s corona through an innovative satellite formation flight.
- Corona – Outermost part of the Sun’s atmosphere.
- Mission will deploy 2 satellites that will maintain an autonomous formation to allow uninterrupted observation.
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence
The Supreme Court restored Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers authority to issue notices and recover dues under the Customs Act, 1962.
- Apex anti-smuggling agency of India.
- Works under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), Ministry of Finance
- Mandate –
- Detecting and preventing illegal drug trafficking
- Preventing and detecting illicit international trade in wildlife and environmentally sensitive items
- Combating commercial frauds related to international trade and evasion of Customs duty.
WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health)
Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Research Centre on Equines in Haryana has been granted WOAH Reference Laboratory status.
- An intergovernmental organization established for disseminating information on animal diseases and improving animal health globally.
- Founded in – 1924.
- Members – 183 including India.
- HQ – Paris, France
Commercial Courts
Government invited comments on the draft Commercial Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
- Deals with commercial disputes arising out of ordinary transactions of merchants, bankers, export or import of merchandise or services, intellectual property rights etc.
- Established under – Commercial Courts Act, 2015
- Constituted by the State Government, after consultation with the concerned High Court.
- Constitution of Commercial Division of High Courts is done by Chief Justice of High Court
