25 out of 75 tigers in Ranthambore National Park missing over last year, say officials.

  • Location – Rajasthan.
    • At the junction of the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges.
  • History – Established as Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955.
    • Declared a national park in 1980, with adjacent forests named Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary.
  • Rivers – Bounded by the Banas River to the north and the Chambal River to the south.
  • Vegetation – Features dry deciduous forests and open grassy meadows.
  • Dominated by the Dhok tree
  • Notable for one of India’s largest banyan trees at Jogi Mahal.
  • Fauna – Renowned for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers.
  • Also hosts leopards, sloth bears, chital (spotted deer), marsh crocodiles etc
