Union Government launched the PM Internship Scheme.
PM Internship Scheme:
- Ministry – Ministry of Corporate Affairs
- Objective – Providing internship opportunities to 1 crore youth in the top 500 companies over 5 years
- Duration of internship – 12 months.
- Eligibility Criteria –
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- Aged between 21-24 years.
- Stipend and Benefits –
- Monthly stipend of ₹4,500 from the central government via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- Additional ₹500 from the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.
- Insurance coverage under PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana.
- Exclusions –
- Individuals engaged in full-time employment
- Individuals from families with government jobs.
- Post-graduates.
- Graduates from premier institutes (IIT, IIM, IISER) and those with CA or CMA qualifications.
- Households with an income of ₹8 lakh or more in 2023-24.
