Orkney Islands has proposed its intent to split from U.K. and become a self-governing territory of Norway.

  • Location: North-Eastern coast of Scotland
  • An archipelago of nearly 70 islands (only 20 are inhabited)
  • Closer to the arctic circle than it is to London.
  • Under Norwegian and Danish rule until late 15th century after which it came under Scotland.

Indian Bank has unveiled new services under its digital transformation initiative ‘Project WAVE (World of Advance Virtual Experience)’.

  • Introduced in collaboration with National E-Governance Services Ltd.
  • An electronic bank guarantee (e-BG) service has been introduced to ease traditional paper-based processes.

Bengaluru’s 1st project under SWAMIH fund was completed, providing affordable homes to nearly 3000 families.

  • Special Window for Affordable and Mid-Income Housing (SWAMIH) Fund
  • A social impact fund specifically formed for completing stressed and stalled residential projects.
  • Launched in 2019.
  • Uses – Provides priority debt financing for completion of stressed, brownfield and Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)-registered residential project.

Department of Telecommunication (DOT) launches Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA).

  • B6GA is a collaborative platform consisting of public and private companies, academia, research institutions, and Standards development organizations.
  • 6G is the successor of 5G
  • Frequency: Sub-6 GHz and 95 GHz to 3 THz (Terahertz)
  • Speed: Up to 1,000 Gbps
  • Latency: 1 millisecond

Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) 2017-18 by National Statistical Office reveals food costs for urban households exceeded 40% of their monthly expenditures in Maharashtra.

  • HCES is a quinquennial(recurring every 5 years) survey conducted between July and June.
  • Conducted by – National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) under Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
  • It collects information on the consumer spending patterns of households across the country, both urban and rural.
