Supreme Court clarified that a child born of a void or voidable marriage can inherit their parents’ share in a joint Hindu family property governed by the Mitakshara law.

Mitakshara School of Law –

  • Attributed to Vijnaneshvara, a 12th-century scholar
  • Focus – Interpretation of Yajnavalkya Smriti in matters of family, property, and inheritance law
  • Subdivided into the Benares, the Mithila, the Maharashtra, and the Dravida schools.
  • Emphasis on joint family property and ancestral property rights
  • Defines rules for succession and inheritance within Hindu families
  • Applies to Hindu Undivided Families across India, except West Bengal and Assam.

People detained in Tripura for demanding introduction of Roman script for tribal Kokborok language.

Kokborok –

  • Language spoken by the Borok people (Tripura – one of the state language).
  • Belongs to Tibeto-Burman family.
  • Declared as official language of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council
  • Has close affinity with other language family like Bodo, Garo, Dimasa etc.
  • 1st Kokborok Grammar written by – Doulot Ahammad
  • Borok are branch of Boro people of Assam belonging to Sino-Tibetan linguistic group and racially Mongoloids.

India’s contribution to objects of cultural significance on display at the special Culture Corridor at G-20 summit would be Panini’s Ashtadhyayi, the ancient text.

Ashtadhyayi –

  • Ashtadhyayi or ‘Eight Chapters’ – An ancient text written by the scholar Panini
  • Period – End of the 4th century BC.
  • It sets the standard for how Sanskrit was meant to be written and spoken.
  • Explores the intricacies of the language’s phonetics, syntax, and grammar
  • Offers ‘language machine’, where one can feed in the root and suffix of any Sanskrit word, and get grammatically correct words and sentences in return.

Technical Textiles –

  • Functional fabrics that have applications across various industries including automobiles, civil engineering and construction, agriculture, healthcare, industrial safety, personal protection etc.
  • 12 technical textile segments: Agrotech, Meditech, Buildtech, Mobiltech, Clothtech, Oekotech, Geotech, Packtech, Hometech, Protech, Indutech and Sportech.

Jadui Pitara –

  • A play-based learning-teaching material tailored for children in the age group of 3-8 years.
  • Developed by – NCERT.
  • Would benefit 10 crore children entering the play-based learning system in anganwadis or pre-primary sections of schools, leading up to Class 2.
