  • Location – Gaya, Bihar
  • On the banks of the Falgu river
  • Dedicated to – Lord Vishnu
  • Renovated by – Ahilyabai, queen of Indore
  • Location – Bodhgaya, Bihar
  • Built by – Emperor Asoka built the 1st shrine in 3rd BC
    • Other Parts of the temple belongs to the post Mauryan period (100 BC)
    • Many of the sculptures belong to Pala period.
  • Design – Mix of Nagara and Dravida
    • Narrow like a nagara temple, rises without curving like a Dravida
  • Significance – A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
    • Temple stands to the east of the Mahabodhi Tree, where Gautam Buddha is believed to have attained nirvana.
