Maitri Setu will give India’s north-eastern region and landlocked countries like Bhutan and Nepal access to the Bay of Bengal.
Maitri Setu (Friendship Bridge):
- Built over – Feni River
- Links Tripura in India with Chittagong port in Bangladesh.
- Joins Sabroom (in Tripura) with Ramgarh in Bangladesh.
- It is a pre-stressed concrete bridge.
About Feni River:
- Trans-boundary river in south-eastern Bangladesh and Tripura state of India.
- Origin: South Tripura district
- Passes through Sabroom town on the Indian side
- Drains into – Bay of Bengal
- Tributaries: Muhuri (Little Feni) River, Raidak River, Chandkhira River, Ryang River and Kushiyara River.
