The US plans to deliver aid to Gaza from a floating dock at sea through the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore Project.
- Military project by – US Department of Defense.
- Objective – To enhance the military’s capacity for logistics operations in regions where there is a lack of adequate fixed port facilities.
- Significance –
- Used to transport cargo by sea when one or more ports cannot be operated or are not available for loading or unloading.
- Especially useful during humanitarian and disaster relief efforts when quick delivery of aid is essential.
Lancet’s ‘Global Burden of Disease’ Study
Lancet’s ‘Global Burden of Disease’ study finds Total Fertility Rate (TFR) decline across the world since 1950.
- Key Findings –
- Global TFR more than halved, from 4.84 (1950) to 2.23 (2021).
- Expected global TFR is 1.83 in 2050 and 1.59 in 2100.
- In 47 countries fertility was below replacement rate from 1950 to 2021.
- India’s TFR was 6.8 in 1950, 1.91 in 2021, and is projected to fall to 1.29 and 1.04 in 2050 and 2100, respectively.
Project ANAGRANINF
Technology Development Board has penned an agreement with two companies and has sanctioned a grant of ₹75 Lakhs towards the Project ANAGRANINF.
- Objective – Development of a novel class of antibiotics against Gram-Negative Bacterial-Infections.
- Gram-negative Bacteria – Bacteria that have built-in abilities to find new ways to be resistant and can pass along genetic materials that allow other bacteria to become drug-resistant as well.
- Technology Development Board – Statutory body constituted under the Technology Development Board Act, 1995.
IMT TRILAT- 2024

- IMT TRILAT – Biennial exercise conducted by the navies of India, Mozambique and Tanzania.
- Objective – To enhance India’s commitment to maritime security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region.
