Geographical Indication (GI) tag

Recently, Geographical Indications Registry in Chennai has given the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Cuttack Rupa Tarakasi, Banglar muslin etc.

  • A form of certification or a collective Intellectual Property Right that recognises unique products based on their origin and characteristics

Darjeeling Tea is the 1st product to get GI tag in India and Tamil Nadu has the highest number of GI tags in India.
