- Homosep Atom – Robotic solution integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Purpose – to inspect, clean, and manage confined space for sanitation purposes.
- Significance – India’s 1st septic tank/manhole cleaning robot
- Solinas – A startup incubated in the Department of Science and Technology (DST)-Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of IIT Madras.
Garbhini-GA2
Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) and IIT Madras researchers have developed Grabhini-GA2
- Garbhini-GA2 – India-specific model to determine the age of a foetus in a pregnant woman in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters
- Part of – GARBH-Ini program.
- GARBH-Ini program – It is a cohort study of pregnant women initiated in 2015.
- Objectives – To generate a risk-prediction algorithm for preterm birth.
Non-pollen Palynomorphs (NPPs)
New research has developed a modern analogue for pollen and non-pollen Palynomorphs of Kaziranga National Park
- Palynomorphs – Microscopic structures abundant in most sediments and sedimentary rocks, and are resistant to routine pollen-extraction procedures including strong acids, bases, acetolysis, etc.
- NPPs – Microfossils other than pollen and spores from vascular plants (such as cyanobacteria, fungi, invertebrates, testate amoebae, etc.) observed in samples prepared for pollen analyses
- Significance – Help in interpretation of past vegetation and climate.
Hunger Moon
Full moon on February 24 was called as Hunger moon
- Hunger Moon – February’s full moon is called Hunger Moon
- Called as Hunger Moon by Native Americans due to challenges faced in hunting due to adverse weather during this period.
- Other names – Snow Moon or Storm Moon.
- Feature – Hunger Monn will miss Earth’s shadow, because moon’s orbit is tilted by five degrees to the plane of the Earth’s orbit, and therefore Earth won’t be directly between the sun and the moon.
