About NIPFP:
- Autonomous body.
- Set up jointly by – Ministry of Finance & erstwhile Planning Commission.
- Founded in 1976.
- Conducts research, supports policy formulation for governments, focusing on public economics.
- Governing Council: Revenue Secretary, Economic Affairs Secretary, Chief Economic Advisor, Niti Aayog, RBI, and 3 state governments’ representatives.
- Financed by – Annual grant from the Ministry of Finance and State governments.
Exemption Under Right to Information Act:
- Certain information is not required to be provided to individuals or entities.
- Section 24 – Exemptions for intelligence and security agencies in 2nd Schedule.
- 2nd Schedule – Covers 26 agencies like IB, RAW, DRI, BSF, NSG, etc.
- Section 8– Exempts disclosure affecting India’s sovereignty, security, state interests, foreign relations, and incitement of offense.
