Issues in Bangladesh after West Bengal gets GI Tag for Tangail Saree.

  • Tangail sarees – Traditional weaving pattern in Bengal
  • Named after – Tangail in Bangladesh.
  • Other Features –
    • Simplification of Jamdani cotton saree but with minimal designs
    • Borders had a ‘paddo’ or lotus pattern
    • Highlighted with gold or silver thread which heightens their elegance.

Prime Minister has inaugurated Sudarshan Setu recently

  • Location – Gulf of Kutch
  • Connects – Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka island in Gujarat.
  • Sudarshan Setu (Signature Bridge) – India’s longest cable-stayed bridge with solar panels installed on upper portions of the footpath
  • Significance –
    • It will ease transportation and reduce time of devotees travelling between Dwarka and Beyt-Dwarka.
    • It features a footpath adorned with verses from Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna on both sides.

UAE was confirmed to have been dropped from Financial Action Task Force Grey list.

  • Other nations removed from the Grey List – Barbados, Gibraltar and Uganda 
  • Countries recently added to Grey List – Namibia and Kenya
  • Countries in FATF Black ListDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran, and Myanmar

Armenia has withdrawn its participation from Russia-led security bloc CSTO.

  • CSTO – An intergovernmental military alliance between Russia and other former Soviet republics
  • Head Quarters – Moscow
  • Originates from – Treaty signed in 1992 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
  • 6 Current Members – Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Belarus.

5th edition of ‘DHARMA GUARDIAN’ commenced in Rajasthan.

  • Dharma Guardian – Joint Military Exercise between the Indian Army and Japan Ground Self Defence Force
  • An annual exercise
  • Conducted alternatively in India and Japan.
